line drawings – summer 2016

a few weeks ago, i came across an old pen in a pot full of newer pens and pencils and brushes, and it’s got a fantastic old nib in it, so i procured ink, and started in on some line drawings. there are many now, and they seem to signal a possible shift away from the sort of work that has fallen under the ‘from the palace of experimental trickery’ umbrella and into some new place. it’s possible i’m starting to work out the influence of all the tidelines activity on my studio work, also possible i’m working out the influence of having a gull live in the house for a month, also possible i’m working out the influence of reading a lot of comics. here’s a dozen of the new crop, all A4, ink on paper, and one with some acrylic paint added for effect.
